Officer Reports:

COHD President Barry Eckert called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. The minutes of the October 20, 2006 meeting were corrected to add in attendance Shelley Conroy. Minutes were approved as corrected. G. Frazer, Treasurer, presented the Financial Report. The report was approved as distributed. Greg will make arrangements to send a retiring dean rocking chair to Dr. Jack Brooks, Dean Marquette University.

S. Conroy extended an invitation to COHD to attend the Western Deans’ meeting in Las Vegas in July.

The Summer Meeting was discussed to include:

  • Meeting has been confirmed to be in Philadelphia, on July 26-27, 2007. The meeting will be a joint meeting with COHD and NERDS.
  • Meeting activities will be at Thomas Jefferson University.
  • Lodging will be at Lowe’s Hotel (downtown).

Agenda topics were reviewed and three topics were selected as preference.

  • On-line delivery of Ph.D. programs.
  • Tenure vs. Non-Tenure Faculty, the Recruitment and Role of Clinical Faculty.
  • A System for Faculty Appointment and Evaluation to include the role of service.

B. Eckert will post all summer meeting information on the webs

Other Items of Business:

B. Eckert is representing the COHD in planning for the annual meeting in San Diego in October, 2007. Members were encouraged to email Barry meeting ideas and speakers. A suggestion was made to consider the topic “The Future of Hospitals”.
